Hyena, a prominent Taiwanese manufacturer, has garnered significant acclaim for its electric bike (e-bike) solutions. These cutting-edge systems have gained widespread adoption in the global e-bike market, firmly establishing the brand's presence. In its ongoing commitment to enhancing their offerings, Hyena is currently engrossed in the development of an advanced motor explicitly designed for lightweight road bikes—the remarkable E-Road Air.

The latest E-Road Air drive system marks a substantial leap forward compared to its predecessors. The newly introduced MRC-A150 motor stands out by being 40 percent lighter and 10 percent more compact than its previous counterparts. So, what does this mean in practical terms? Well, it means you get a motor that is not only compact but also impressively lightweight. The MRC-A150 features a casing measuring a mere 112 millimeters and boasts a remarkably low weight of just 1.3 kilograms.

Now, let's delve into the realm of performance. It is important to note that the E-Road Air system is purposefully designed for performance-oriented, sporty e-road bikes. Consequently, power output takes a backseat to factors such as pedal feel and a compact design. The MRC-A150 perfectly aligns with this objective, with a nominal output of a mere 150 watts and 30 Newton-meters of torque.

Turning our attention to the battery, a plethora of configurations are available. However, Hyena particularly highlights the E-Road Air system's slim and compact 250-watt-hour battery pack. As a result, the entire system—battery, motor, and controller—weighs in at a mere 3.2 kilograms. For those seeking extended range, an optional 1.3-kilogram, 180-watt-hour range extender is available, conveniently fitting snugly into a water bottle holder.

In terms of complementary technology, the E-Road Air system comes bundled with a smartphone app that enables users to conveniently configure settings on the go. Naturally, the system is equipped with a torque sensor that ensures an incredibly smooth pedal response tailored to each pedal stroke.

Undoubtedly, the impressive array of technological features offered by Hyena's brand has propelled it to gain substantial traction in the market. Currently, Hyena's systems can be found on bikes from renowned brands such as Trek, Diamant, Cannondale, and Electra. It goes without saying that these same brands stand to benefit from the innovative E-Road Air system. With all these remarkable features in mind, we eagerly await the official unveiling of the new e-bike system, which will take place at the 2023 Eurobike trade fair scheduled from June 21 to 26, 2023, in Frankfurt, Germany.
